Respect Earth to awaken

We are an important part of Nature, and not above her or outside of her as we so often seem to believe. If we want to survive and thrive on Earth for the long run, we, as a species need to realize this, and the sooner the better for all of us and all living creatures on our beautiful life-giving planet.

Our illusion of separateness is what’s causing most of our problems at this crucial moment in our history, we imagine us to be separated from the Earth, from the Forests, from the Animals, from the Plants, and also from each other; as we are divided by race, religion, nationality, skin color, by sexual preferences, by tastes, by class, by…well you get the picture. How quickly can we realise that we are all interconnected and what happens to any part of the whole happens to us all?

In Native American lore, Shamans would say that what we do to Nature, we do to ourselves…

GAIA: The Earth is alive but not so well

James Lovelock, pinned the popular term Gaia in the late 60s: via Wikipedia: the Gaia hypothesis proposes that living and non-living parts of the Earth form a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single living organism (…), the hypothesis postulates that the biosphere has a regulatory effect on the Earth’s environment that acts to sustain life.

In Lovelock’s 2006 book, The Revenge of Gaia, he argues that the lack of respect humans have had for Gaia, through the damage done to rainforests and the reduction in planetary biodiversity, is testing Gaia’s capacity to minimize the effects of the addition of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This eliminates the planet’s negative feedbacks and increases the likelihood of homeostatic positive feedback potential associated with runaway global warming.

CLIMATE CHANGE: It’s real, and we are the main culprits

The David Suzuki Foundation website has a clear statement on this:

The debate is over about whether or not climate change is real. Irrefutable evidence from around the world – including extreme weather events, record temperatures, retreating glaciers, and rising sea levels – all point to the fact climate change is happening now and at rates much faster than previously thought.

The newest report from the UN now maintains that 95% of the worlds leading climate scientists now agree that Climate Change is partially caused by human activity.

We do not have much time, as Nature is rebelling, we see it more and more with the frequency and strength of the natural disasters of the world, the Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Tsunamis, the Oceans rising, the species we are losing every minute, we are in the sixth great extinction event in the history of our planet, and the first where we have been the cause of the decline., …the pollution,  the iniquities of the world…

‘Geological change usually takes thousands of years to happen but we are seeing the climate changing not just in our lifetimes but also year by year.’ – James Lovelock

We must wake up and realize that the Earth doesn’t need us for it’s survival, but we do, we need it’s oxygen, it’s water, it’s protection against harmful UV rays, to live, to thrive, to grow.

Nature is trying very hard to make us succeed, but nature does not depend on us. We are not the only experiment.R. Buckminster Fuller

Let’s realize that the Earth is our home, our mother, and needs us to help it now when it is at it’s tipping point!

Chief Seattle, chief of the Squamish: “Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. “

What does Nature mean to you?

That is the question we must ask today, is it just a commodity that we can price, frack, clear-cut, farm, mine, and exploit. Or is it something more profound, something deeper, something that you feel deep in your heart, in your soul. Do you feel connected at all, if so, you are awakening to your true higher self? If you have no sense of this, it is a crucial step in your personal evolution. The incredible movie Avatar depicted this when the Na’vi attached their hair to a beast or the Tree of Life. Think of Our connection now being more in Wi-Fi, meaning the connection is directly with your heart!

“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
John Lubbock

To conclude: The Earth has enough resources for everyone’s needs, but not everyone’s greed.

The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature.
